Healthcare startup Traya raises $2.2M in a pre-Series A round led by Fireside Ventures

Traya, a holistic hair care platform, has raised $2.2 million (Rs 16 crore) in a new funding round with the goal of changing the hair care industry by providing a holistic solution to manage hair loss.

The new pre-Series A round was led by Fireside Ventures and existing investors Kae Capital and Whiteboard Capital. Traya claims that the funds raised will aid the company’s research and development (R&D), acquisition of talent, development of cutting-edge technology to personalise the hair growth experience, and expansion of brand presence.

Kannan Sitaram, Partner at Fireside Ventures, will join the company’s board of directors following the investment.

The current hair industry, according to the company, is flooded with hair fall products that lack clinical efficacy. A one-size-fits-all approach to hair loss, or any chronic health issue, will never work. The healthcare startup uses a three-pronged approach that combines science and clinically proven results to help people identify the type, stage, and root cause of hair loss and then creates a treatment plan based on that information.

In each case, Traya assigns an ayurvedic doctor and a dermatologist to track, tweak, and prescribe the best plan for the patient. Furthermore, their diet, combined with a proprietary no-side-effects formula, assists people in managing these root causes, as well as hair growth, for long-term results.
