Groww’s founder, Lalit Keshre, announced that Microsoft CEO Satya Nadella has joined the company as an investor and advisor.
“Groww gets one of the best CEOs in the world as an investor and advisor. Glad to see @satyanadella joining us in our mission to make financial services accessible in India,” Keshre tweeted.
Groww joined the coveted unicorn club in April of last year after raising $83 million led by Tiger Global. Within six months, the investment platform raised another $251 million in a new round of funding, bringing its valuation to $3 billion, or approximately Rs 22,500 crore.
Groww has joined the ranks of leading fintech unicorns such as Razorpay and Pine Labs, which raised funds to increase their valuations to $7.5 billion and $3.5 billion, respectively, last year.
Groww was founded in 2016 by former Flipkart executives Keshre, Harsh Jain, Neeraj Singh, and Ishan Bansal to provide retail investors with access to financial products and services via the web and mobile.
