Users will soon be able to make voice calls from the WhatsApp web version. The feature is currently being rolled out to a small number of users. WhatsApp announced plans to make the video and voice calling feature available to web and desktop users in October 2020. The feature was made available to beta testers and some non-beta testers alike. However, it appears that WhatsApp will soon make the feature available to a wider audience.
Mukul Sharma, a well-known tipster, had shared a screenshot of the feature. The video and voice call icons can be seen next to the search icon at the top of the chat window in Sharma’s screenshot. The feature was only available to beta users, but Sharma’s tweet suggests that it may be made available to non-beta users soon. It’s worth noting that the feature was only discovered in the browser, not the web app.
In a related note, WhatsApp has begun rolling out a new voice call interface. On the Android beta app, the new interface was spotted. Only a few beta testers were given access to the update. The remaining testers will be able to access it in the coming days.
According to the Wabetainfo report, WhatsApp is not only revamping the caller interface for individual calls, but is also working on a completely new design for group calls. When you make a group voice call, bring voice waveforms for all participants during the call, as shown in the screenshots. The new update is being rolled out to Android beta testers today, according to Wabetainfor, with more activations planned in the coming weeks.
