Cybersecurity startup Securden raises $10.5 million

Securden Inc., a security startup based in the United States, raised $10.5 million in a Series A round headed by Tiger Global. Together Fund and Securden’s existing investor, Accel, also participated in the funding round.

According to the startup, the funds will be used to scale research and development, as well as sales and marketing operations. The company also intends to extend its product offering and expand its team across all streams globally.

Securden is an IT security startup based in Chennai, founded by Bala Venkatramani and Kumaran Balan. It focuses on Access Security and Governance across IT, DevOps, and Cloud environments. Small and medium-sized businesses (SMBs), major organisations, and Fortune-500 companies are all served by the company.

“We are excited to have Accel double down on Securden and thrilled to have Tiger Global and Together Fund as new investors. The expertise and excitement they bring will help us emerge as a leader in this space offering the most advanced access governance platform, which is both simple and affordable,” said Venkatramani.

The investment round follows Securden’s revenue growth and rapid customer adoption across 26 verticals over the past year, informed the company in its release.

Securden was founded in 2018 with the goal of preventing cyber attacks, insider exploits, and malware propagation by addressing the core IT infrastructure access security concerns faced by IT, operations, and security teams.

In early 2020, the company raised $1.2 million in a seed financing round headed by Accel and including Girish Mathrubootham, the Founder and CEO of Freshworks, among others.

Digital transformation, large-scale cloud, DevOps adoption, IoT, and remote work are all driving the creation of multiple human and machine identities, as well as a complicated network of access and privileges.

The bulk of security breaches are caused by poor management of these, including identity theft, malware or ransomware spread, and insider exploitation. As a result, the core pillars of information security have become safeguarding identities, managing access, and continuously monitoring privileges.
