New Delhi, December 17, 2024 – The eSports Community and Industry Summit (ESCOM) 2024 organized by the International Federation of eSports (IFeS) and All India Council for Robotics & Automation (AICRA), concluded on a high note at the Talkatora Stadium in New Delhi. This landmark event brought together the brightest minds and key stakeholders in the eSports ecosystem, fostering dialogue on innovation, sustainability, and growth within this rapidly expanding industry.

The summit commenced with an inaugural ceremony with Chief Guest Mr. Navneet Sehgal (IAS), Chairman of Prasar Bharati. Guest of Honor Mr. Vinay Thakur, Spl Director General of Ministry of Electronics & IT, Govt of India. Mr. Rajkumar Sharma, President of AICRA, delivered the welcome address emphasizing the significance of collaboration to elevate India’s position in the global eSports arena. The inauguration highlighted the potential of eSports as a tool for youth empowerment, technological advancement, and economic development.

Navneet Sehgal stated “eSports presents a huge opportunity for innovation and startups, as highlighted by Hon’ble Prime Minister Narendra Modi. This conference is vital for promoting eSports and fostering ideas that advance technology and startups. I’m proud to have introduced India’s first eSports policy, focusing on infrastructure and player incentives. Additionally, Prasar Bharati’s ‘Waves’ platform offers a dedicated space for eSports content, with a revenue-sharing model for developers. AICRA and IFES can be facilitator and help industry to grow. Let’s work together to position India as a global leader in eSports and support innovation and talent in this thriving sector

Vinay Thakur added “The eSports sector in India is growing rapidly, driven by the Digital India program and increasing smartphone usage. With 570 million gamers and a 28% growth rate from 2020 to 2023, India is becoming a global player in gaming. The government’s support, including the Task Force, aims to establish India as a gaming hub.”

Rajkumar Sharma added “I am excited to witness the rapid growth of esports in India. With a vibrant gaming community, strong government support, and the increasing role of technology, India is well-positioned to become a global esports hub. We are committed to fostering innovation, developing infrastructure, and creating opportunities for talent. Together, we can make India a leader in the esports industry, driving both growth and global recognition.”
