India had the greatest increase in fixed broadband download speeds: Ookla report

According to statistics released by Ookla, the global leader in mobile and broadband network analytics, India had the fastest rise in fixed broadband download speeds of 60.06Mbps, a substantial increase from 40.45Mbps reported last year in July 2020.

Ookla has recently updated its Speed test Global Index for July. Fixed broadband upload speeds rose from 35.04Mbps in July 2020 to 56.47Mbps in July 2021. In terms of fixed broadband speeds, India ranks 68th in the Speed test Global Index for July, up 7 spots from last year.

India’s overall performance in mobile download speeds has steadily risen, with a minor decrease in the months from December 2020 to April 2021. While mobile download speeds decreased slightly from June 2021 to July 2021, from 17.84 Mbps to 17.77 Mbps, India maintained its 122nd position in the worldwide mobile rankings.

According to the July Global Speedtest Index, the UAE and Monaco have retained their top positions in mobile broadband and fixed broadband, respectively, with mean download speeds of 190.03Mbps and 256.70Mbps.
