Instagram is suffering an outage in several parts of the world due to unclear issues. According to Downdetector, the platform that keeps track of internet outages, the Instagram services went down about an hour ago, while the reports about the outage peaked at around 12.15 pm. India seems to be the worst hit by the outage, with swaths of consumers reporting they are not able to access Instagram in cities such as Delhi, Mumbai, Bengaluru, and Chennai. Facebook has not taken note of the outage yet, but it is likely to address the problem through public communication channels.
The cause of the outage is unknown at the moment, and Facebook will release more information after conducting an investigation. However, the outage appears to have impacted a large number of services on the platform. According to Instagram users who turned to Twitter and Downdetector’s forum to report issues, the feed is not refreshing, DMs are not working, and profiles are returning an error when accessed. Initially, they assumed there was a problem with their internet connection, but people quickly began to report problems.
