WhatsApp has been spotted testing a new feature that could revolutionise how we forward messages. Whatsapp will soon make it impossible to forward messages to multiple groups. The feature was found being tested by the chat app. If the feature is included in the final version, it will be problematic for many people who forward messages without reading them the majority of the time. This approach would also help to limit the spread of fake news and misinformation.
Previously, WhatsApp released an update that allowed users to forward messages to only one chat at a time. To curb virality, WhatsApp had imposed limits on forwarded messages.
“When a message is marked as forwarded, it’s no longer possible to forward it to more than one group chat at a time. If you need to forward this message to more than one group chat, you need to select the message and forward it again,” the report mentions.
So, if you’re trying to forward a message with a forwarded label, you won’t be able to send it to more than one group chat at once. You’ll have to select the message and forward it again if you want to forward it to more than one group chat. Previously, WhatsApp imposed a limit on the number of times these messages could be forwarded to a single chat at a time.
“Last year we introduced users to the concept of messages that have been forwarded many times. These messages are labeled with double arrows to indicate they did not originate from close contact. In effect, these messages are less personal compared to typical messages sent on WhatsApp. We are now introducing a limit so that these messages can only be forwarded to one chat at a time,” WhatsApp had said.
The feature is currently being tested and it is being rolled out to certain beta testers and it’s going to be enabled for everyone in the next few days.
