Have you ever found yourself humming a tune but unable to recall the song’s title? YouTube Music is here to alleviate that frustration with its upcoming hum-to-search feature, making song discovery easier than ever before.
While the YouTube app for phones already offers a similar functionality, YouTube Music users have long awaited this feature’s arrival on their dedicated music platform. Now, reports suggest that their wishes are about to be granted.
Soon, users will be able to search for a song on YouTube Music simply by humming, singing, or whistling the tune. However, this feature will initially be available exclusively for Android users, with iOS users expected to receive it in the future.
According to a report by 9 to 5 Google, the YouTube Music app will introduce two tabs for song search, with a dedicated button specifically designed for hum-to-search functionality. Users can access this feature by tapping the search bar or locating the dedicated button, likely positioned alongside the existing microphone icon used for voice searches.
To utilize the hum-to-search feature, users will hum, sing, or whistle the melody of the desired song for approximately 10 to 15 seconds. YouTube Music will then employ its advanced AI technology to analyze the audio input and generate a list of potential matches based on the closest musical fingerprint.
The beauty of this feature lies in its simplicity – users don’t need to possess exceptional singing abilities or perfect pitch. Even a simple hum will suffice to initiate the search process. With YouTube Music’s hum-to-search feature, discovering new music or rediscovering old favorites promises to become effortless and enjoyable for music enthusiasts.
In addition to this innovative feature, YouTube Music is also reportedly working on enhancing the podcast listening experience. A potential “Trim Silence” feature, akin to those found in other podcast apps, may soon be introduced. This feature automatically identifies periods of silence within podcasts and skips over them, resulting in a slightly shorter runtime and a more seamless listening experience.
