Google Meet has released an intriguing update for customers who are unable to switch off their mics during a meeting. People frequently begin discussions without turning off the mic, and when the mic is turned off, background noise can disturb the entire conference. Google, on the other hand, now has a solution for such troublesome players. Google Meet is introducing a new feature that lets the meeting host to mute all participants at once. The functionality is now available in Google Workspace for the domains Education Fundamentals and Education Plus. In the following months, the feature will be available in other Google Workspace editions. The feature will offer the host more control by assisting them in preventing or stopping disruptions caused by unmuted users.
“The meeting host is the only user in a meeting who can use the “mute all” feature. Once all participants are muted, the meeting host cannot unmute them. However, users will be able to unmute themselves as needed. The mute all feature will only be available for hosts who are joining from a desktop browser, but will be launching on other platforms in the coming months,” Google said in a blog post.
Users may mute a person by pointing on their image and selecting the Mute option.
Meeting hosts will have access to the feature by default. Users with Google Workspace Essentials, Business Starter, Business Standard, Business Plus, Enterprise Essentials, Enterprise Standard, and Enterprise Plus, as well as G Suite Basic, Business, and Nonprofits, will not be able to use the feature.
