Xiaomi leads the Indian smart phone market in Q3

Xiaomi remains the leader in the Indian smartphone market Despite supply difficulties that have resulted in a drop in overall shipments. According to Canalys’ latest report on India’s Q3 smartphone shipments, there was a 5% year on year drop, although shipments were 47 percent higher when compared to the same quarter last year. The last quarter’s growth can be attributed to the country’s recovery from the COVID-19 pandemic.

Xiaomi has claimed top place by shipping 11.2 million devices to the country. It accounted for a quarter of all units shipped. Xiaomi’s yearly shipments allegedly fell by 14 percent in Q3 2021, with 11.2 million devices supplied vs 13.1 million units shipped in the same quarter last year. Its market share is also expected to fall from 26% in Q3 2020 to 24% in Q3 2021.

Samsung is in second place with 9.1 million devices, accounting for 19% of the Indian market. Until last year, the South Korean electronics manufacturer also held a 20% market share. According to Canalys, the top five suppliers also included Vivo, Realme, and Oppo.
