Arya.ag acquires agriculture data science startup Prakshep

Arya.ag, a grain commerce platform located in Noida, has acquired agriculture data science firm Prakshep for an unknown sum. Arya strengthens its position as India’s largest integrated grain commerce platform and expands its technological capabilities to provide end-to-end solutions to its users with this acquisition.

Arya.ag secured $60 million in Series C financing from Asia Impact SA and returning investors Lightrock India and Quona Capital in January of this year.

The purchase, according to the business, would assist to boost Arya’s aim of providing cutting-edge AI/ML capabilities to farm digitalization, crop monitoring, quality assaying, and surveillance. The company will strengthen its ties with other agchain players such as FPOs, processors and corporates, banks, and insurance firms.

According to Arya.ag, it links agriproducts vendors and consumers while offering 100% guarantee on quantity, quality, and payments. Prakshep’s innovative digital services will complement Arya.ag’s extensive tech expertise to deliver traceability, transparency, and quality assurance for smooth commodities transactions.

The Noida-based firm will now have the largest agricultural database, adding farm specifics such as borders, crop activities, health, and yield valuation to its current repository of storage and grain value chain database.

The business is now working on India’s first public agri blockchain ledger. Prakshep’s deeptech knowledge and skills will provide more farm-level connectivity and preload vast historical farm activity data to Arya.ag’s blockchain ledger.

Arya.ag intends to enhance its existing base of over a million farmers and 500 FPOs by offering farm assessment and crop health monitoring using AI integration, remote sensing, and satellite imaging. Prakshep’s purchase is also consistent with Arya’s focus on climate-smart farming methods with a low carbon impact.

Prakshep’s models have enabled a 45 percent decrease in crop damage, a 40% reduction in pesticide use, a 35% reduction in water consumption, and a 30% reduction in GHG emissions. Climate-smart agriculture is relevant to the concerns of food security and climate change, and Arya.ag and Prakshep’s collaboration can offer smart and scalable solutions to rethink the agricultural environment.
