Inspired By Cheetahs, Researchers Build Fastest Soft Robots Yet !!

Inspired by the biomechanics of cheetahs, researchers have developed a new type of soft robot that is capable of moving more quickly on a solid surfaces or in the water than previous generations of soft robots. The new soft robotics are also capable of grabbing objects delicately — or with sufficient strength to lift heavy objects. “Cheetahs are the fastest creatures on land, and they derive their speed and power from the flexing of their spines,” says Jie Yin, an assistant professor of mechanical and aerospace engineering at North Carolina…

A worldwide hackathon’: Hospitals turn to crowdsourcing and 3D printing amid equipment shortages !!

Earlier this month, the CEO of an Italian 3D-printing startup learned that a hospital near the center of the coronavirus outbreak in Italy was running short on a small but crucial component: the valves that connect respirators to oxygen masks. The company that makes the valves couldn’t keep up with the demand, and doctors were in search of a solution. “When we heard about the shortage, we got in touch with the hospital immediately. We printed some prototypes. The hospital tested them and told us they worked,” the CEO,Cristain…

First look of PM Modi’s new plane, Indian version of ‘Air Force 1’ !!

Unlike the President of the United States, who has a special plane designated called ‘Air Force One’, the Prime Minister and President of India travel in a commercial Air India plane code-named ‘Air India One’. However, this is to set the change soon as aircraft manufacturing company Boeing soon will be delivering two special aircrafts for India that will be used for international travel of the Prime Minister, President, and Vice President. Watch the first look and know about the special features of this plane.

New Made-In-India Fighter Cleared For Development, First Flight In 6 Years !!

New Delhi: By the success trial of  landings of the Tejas-N fighter on board the Navy aircraft carrier, INS Vikramaditya, the Aeronautical Development Agency (ADA) has given to go ahead for the development of a twin engine made-in-India fighter jet. The development phase is expected to cost between Rs 7,000 and Rs 8,000 crore. NDTV has learnt that the development of this aircraft was discussed on May 22 at ADA’s Annual General Body meet, its highest governing body.  The meeting was chaired by Defence Minister Rajnath Singh and was attended by the…

A Robot Walks Into a Bar, Helps Make a Cocktail !!

One Robot makes cocktails from 25 bottles hanging upside-down from the ceiling, another carves perfect ice balls in the fraction of the time it takes a human with a knife and an ice pick. Robo-bartenders are shaking up South Korea’s cafe and bar culture as the country transitions from intensive to make social distancing to what the government calls “distancing in daily life.” And they look snazzy doing it too. In a tailored vest and bow tie, six-foot-tall Cabo narrates his actions as he carves ice for a whisky on…

Robot enforces health measures as South Korea relaxes social distancing!!

The robot was jointly developed by SK Telecom and industrial automation specialist Omron Electronics in South Korea. It is intended to help enforce remaining public health measures to help prevent the transmission of Covid-19, such as temperature checks & enhanced hygiene. The upright white robot is equipped with cameras and an LED screen to show thermal images and transmits data in a real-time over SK Telecom’s 5G network. In a demonstration at the headquarters of SK Telecom, the robot greeted visitors, dispensed hand sanitiser and disinfected its surroundings using disinfectant…

Jets with enhanced protection to join PM’s fleet by September!!

Two specially modified Boeing-777 Aircraft, capable of countering missile threats, will join Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s Air India One fleet by September-end, two people are familiar with the development said on Wednesday. The first head-of-state Boeing-777 Aircraft will arrive in India from the United States by the end of August followed by the second one a month later, they said on condition of anonymity. The planes will come equipped with self-protection suites (SPS) consisting of aircraft infrared counter measures, advanced integrated defensive electronic warfare suite and the counter-measures dispensing system to protect…

Salto Jumping Robot Masters Pinpoint Landings!!

One of the things that we love about the UC Berkeley’s Salto jumping robot is just how much better it gets, year after year. And these changes aren’t just incremental—the little robot’s capabilities seem to improve by leaps and bounds, as it were. The latest upgrade, presented at Virtual ICRA 2020 this week, it is particularly impressive, since Salto has learned how to very precisely stop jumping exactly where you want it to. As far as we know, the best way of getting Salto to stop jumping without destroying itself has been for someone with exceptional…

Stereotaxis Robotic Technology Referenced In “Over 400 Scientific Publications” !!!!

Stereotaxis , is a developer of  Robotic technologies for the treatment of cardiac arrhythmias, says it has reached a significant milestone of over 400 scientific publications now on documenting the clinical benefits of Stereotaxis robotic technology. David Fischel, chairman and CEO of  Stereotaxis, says: “The clinical benefits of Robotic Magnetic Navigation have been extensively validated in high-quality clinical literature and in the real-world treatment of over one-hundred-thousand arrhythmia patients”. “We are proud to the depth and breadth of clinical data demonstrating the benefits of robotics to patients and healthcare to…

A good egg: Robot chef trained to make omelettes!!

A team of engineers have trained a Chef robot to prepare an omelette, all the way from cracking the eggs to plating the finished dish, and refined the ‘chef’s’ culinary skills to produce a reliable dish that actually tastes good. The researchers, from the “University of Cambridge”  in collaboration with the domestic appliance company Beko, used  “Machine learning” to train the robot to account for highly subjective matters of taste. The results are reported in the journal “IEEE Robotics and Automation Letters”, and will be available online as part of the…
