SCIENTISTS FIND NEW DIMENSION TO DYNAMICS OF INDIAN OCEAN

India Science Wire: Indian scientists have discovered a hitherto unknown effect of the tropical weather phenomenon known as Madden-Julian Oscillation, which plays an important role in determining the fate of Indian summer monsoon. The Madden-Julian Oscillation (MJO) is an eastward moving disturbance of clouds, rainfall, winds, and pressure. It circles the planet along the tropical belt in 30-80 days. During its global ride, it intensifies over three regions the eastern Indian Ocean, south of the maritime continent and the western Pacific Ocean and transfers a part of its energy to…

NOW A DENTAL PLAQUE WILL BE WIPING OUT BY AN ARMY OF MICRO-ROBOTS

An adequate visit to the dentist typically consumes the time and some of the times it is such an unpleasant scraping with mechanical tools to remove plaque from teeth. What if, a dentist could station for a small army of tiny robots to precisely and non-invasively remove that buildup? In the University of Pennsylvania a team of engineers, dentists, and biologists developed a microscopic robotic cleaning crew. Whereas with two types of robotic systems — the one to operate inside confined spaces and the other one designed to work on…

THE TELESCOPE MAKING SEVERANCE THROUGH OUTER-SPACE

This week had brought the entire science enthusiast an epitome of serotonin, giving a blissfully pleasurable experience. We are very much aware of the fact that it took eight telescopes across the planet a week of observations to produce the black hole image that stunned the world, but it took scientists a much longer period of time to teach those instruments to work together, for one mainstreamed objective. And in those two years since the data behind that image was gathered, the Event Horizon Telescope partnership behind the groundbreaking observations…

CONGREGATION OF INDUSTRY TECHNOLOGIES

The buzz about IoT has always been around, primarily due to the way it can connect so many fragmented things into one particular bracket. It is also promising to evoke a feeling of modernization for the industries. So many IoT centered firms are introducing us to the newest of the applications revolving the Internet of Things. This ever evolving industry has made its special place in the electronic environment, which is pretty much evident in the forefront. It is the basic plan of action; you show them where the significant…

SMART CITIES: INTERNET OF THINGS

IT or Internet of Things is an evolution of mobile, home and embedded applications that are being connected to the internet integrating greater compute capabilities and using data analytics to extract meaning of information. As related devices connect with each other, they can become an intelligent system of systems. And when these intelligent devices or system of systems share data over the cloud and analyze it, they have the potential to transform our businesses and our lives in numerous ways: whether it’s improving medical outcomes, creating better products faster with…

Jenga in Robo World

Making the machine win over humans has always been a wild dream in human beings fantasy, since there will be extinction threats; we are limiting ourselves to lose in games for now. Early times, machines were capable of winning us over chess, rubix cube, now there is an all new addition to these blood shedding battle ground (not really), MIT researchers have successfully tested a machine capable of playing the balancing tower game, Jenga. “Playing the game of Jenga also requires mastery of physical skills such as probing, pushing, pulling,…

Haptics interface: helps in making gadgets, which reacts to human senses

The haptic interface is the interface in which humans interact with a machine or computer using his/her sensory receptors. It is generally used in virtual reality environment. This can help people interact with virtual objects and elements. To execute a processor command computer interprets the signal given by each human being. This is how haptic interface works. In all gaming industry and 3D creative world haptic interface works wonder. Whenever the gaming icon in any virtual or electronic game fails or hit a wrong place the reception is sent to…

New technique may help quicken production of blood cancer drug

India Science Wire Researchers at Madurai Kamaraj University have developed a technique that promises to quicken the process of production of L-asparaginase, an enzyme used in treatment of acute lymphoblastic leukaemia. Human cells need steady supply of an amino acid, Asparagine, to build proteins and use an enzyme called asparagine synthetase to make it. Cancerous cells, however, rely on blood for their requirement of asparagine. L-Asparaginase therapy takes advantage of this. L-Asparaginase enzyme performs the opposite reaction to asparagine synthetase. It catalyzes conversion of L-asparagine to aspartic acid and ammonia….

A 3D Robot that Sweats

Three-dimensional printing is an important and amazing application of the discipline of robotics. It gives the designer the freedom to provide new functionality to the robots they create. This also aids the user to blend there robots with new customization and functionalities according to their needs. The field of robotics is an expanding industry today because of additive manufacturing industry. The University of Tokyo has designed an advanced three dimensional printed robot named Kengoro. This robot really sweats. It is embedded with cooling process that helps it to cool down…

IoT and Automation are transforming the Face of the Indian Logistics Industry

The logistics industry in India has come a long way, driving the growth of the Indian economy with full rigur, accounting for almost 14% of the country’s total GDP. The industry, which currently serves as fuel for the effective functioning of various other industries is currently estimated to be around US$ 160 billion, and according to the domestic rating agency ICRA, the Indian logistics sector is expected to grow at a rate of 8-10 percent over the medium term. Technology and its extensive usage have played a miraculous role in…
