The cassie robot made history by running 5km

The robot named Cassie developed by the OSU spinout company has made the headlines by traversing 5 kilometres in just 53 minutes. Cassie, the first bipedal robot was launched in 2017. Hurst the co-founder says” The dynamic robotics laboratory students in the OSU College of engineering combined expertise  from biomechanics and existing robot control approaches with new machine learning tools.” Cassie used deep reinforcement learning algorithm to develop the ability to run. The algorithm is a powerful method in AI that enables robots to develop skills like running, skipping, and…

Smart robot for the healthcare sector

Researchers from the Hefei Institutes of Physical Science (HFIPS) of the Chinese Academy of Sciences recently developed a robot that realized simultaneous disinfection of both air and object surfaces. The technology behind this robot can automatically detect disinfection objects and control the positioning of the manipulator concerning users’ needs. It has been observed that the robot may have wide applications in medical environments, like Intensive Care Medicine (ICU), Disinfection Supply Center and Static Delivery Center, etc. The researchers used teleoperation and deep learning technology for training the robot to identify…

Investigation on microwave powered rocket propulsion

A study published in the Journal of Spacecraft and Rockets unfolds the effort taken by a group of researchers from Japan to check the viability of using microwave radiation for wirelessly transmitting required power to space rockets. According to the journal, the team demonstrated wireless power transmission via microwaves for a free-flying drone and recorded the efficiency of this process. Researchers used microwaves with a relatively high frequency (28 GHz) for the transmission. Kohei Shimamura, lead author of the study says, “We used a sophisticated beam-tracking system to ensure that…

Windows 11 will get updates twice a month: Confirmed Microsoft

Microsoft has announced that they will release new updates for the upcoming Windows 11 every month using the same practices the company has honed with Windows 10. Microsoft’s post to the Windows IT Pro blog reveals that it would continue to deliver what it had dubbed “quality updates” at least twice each month. The post further confirmed that security updates for windows 10 & windows 11 will be issued on the second Tuesday of every month. Regular updates may appear after the release of security patches. These optional updates contain…

China to build a cleaner and safer nuclear reactor

China has revealed its plans to build the world’s first cleaner and safer nuclear reactor using liquid thorium & molten salt. The molten salt nuclear reactor is safer than the traditional one since the molten salt cools and solidifies quickly when exposed to the air, insulating the thorium. The reactor will be kinder to the environment because it would spill less radiation into the surrounding environment in comparison to leaks from traditional reactors. The experimental reactor will be capable to produce around 100 megawatts of electricity- enough to provide power…

Intel announced its revised

Intel CEO Pat Geisinger announced his company’s revised process roadmap with a refreshing new naming scheme for next-generation nodes. The new road map includes all the products that are expected to enter for production through 2025 and beyond. According to the company’s new roadmap, Intel’s upcoming 10nm Alder Lake processors will be called “Intel 7”. Intel shared, “Under IDM 2.0, our factory network continues to deliver, and we are now manufacturing more 10-nanometer wafers than 14-nanometer. As 10-nanometer volumes ramp, economics are improving with 10-nanometer wafer cost 45% lower year-over-year…

Form energy develops iron-air 100-hour storage battery

Form energy- battery maker officials confirmed their development of the Iron-Air 100-hour storage battery meant to store electricity created from renewable sources such as solar and wind. As per the report, the new battery is based on iron and the production is not expensive. Form energy describes the battery as a multi-day energy storage system that can store electricity for up to 100 hours at a lower cost. The battery consumes oxygen and then converts the iron inside the battery to rust, later converting it back to iron again. This…

Robot arms eliminating jerky movements

Researchers at North-eastern released a video on the previous day demonstrating a robot arm smoothly mimicking the actions of a researcher. The group has been trying to eliminate stiff and jerky movements of robotic arms and make them gentle and smooth. The researcher was wearing a C-shaped gripping claw in his right hand while showing actions to the robotic arm. He raised his arm, swept it left and right, and bent it at the wrist, smooth actions that were copied in tandem by the robotic arm. The north-eastern project is…

Apple to bring Face ID technology to iMac..!

The tech giant Apple is planning to bring face ID technology to Mac computers in a couple of years. Face ID technology is not new to the iPhone series since it has been the primary security feature for years now. Bloomberg’s reporter Furman says in his newsletter that, “Apple’s ultimately  to shift all its products to Face ID, including lower-end iPhones like the iPhone SE series, which currently continue to use Touch ID, Apple’s fingerprint sensor implementation.” “It won’t happen this year, but I’d bet Face ID on the Mac…

Youtube’s algorithm serves problematic videos: Study shows

The latest study from software nonprofit Mozilla Foundation showed that the Youtube’s algorithms can recommend you videos featuring sexualized content and false claims than personalized interests. More than 37,000 volunteers participated on the study by using a browser extension track down their Youtube usage. The records by the browser extension revealed that the video flagged as problematic is still coming across the platform via YouTube’s recommendation or on their own. The study defined problematic videos as “Youtube Regrets” and it included videos “championing pseudo-science, promoting 9/11 conspiracies, showcasing mistreated animals,…
