ChatGPT Launches “Tasks” Feature for Reminders and Scheduled Actions

OpenAI has announced a significant update to ChatGPT, introducing a new feature called “Tasks,” which is currently in beta. This feature is available to Plus, Team, and Pro subscribers, allowing users to set reminders and schedule actions, enhancing ChatGPT’s role as a personal assistant.

With Tasks, users can create one-time reminders for appointments or events, as well as set up recurring actions like daily weather updates or task reminders. Additionally, users can schedule future actions, such as having ChatGPT follow up on specific topics later.

To utilize Tasks, users can select the “4o with scheduled tasks” option in the model picker and specify the actions and timing for their reminders. ChatGPT will also offer task suggestions based on ongoing conversations, allowing users to accept or adjust these recommendations.

The Tasks feature is designed to function smoothly across various platforms, including web, desktop, and mobile. Users can manage their active tasks through a dedicated web section or within chat threads, receiving notifications when a task is about to be executed. However, there is a limit of 10 active tasks at any given time, and it is still uncertain if this feature will be accessible to free users.

This new development enhances ChatGPT’s capabilities as a digital assistant, positioning it to compete with popular platforms like Amazon’s Alexa and Apple’s Siri. The introduction of Tasks marks a significant step toward making ChatGPT a more valuable tool for users looking for a personalized and proactive assistant.
