GAISA Showcases the Transformative Power of AI in Drones and Space Technologies

  • GAISA explores the next frontier of AI-powered drones in defense, agriculture, and urban mobility.

  • AI in drones emerges as a game-changer for surveillance, logistics, and disaster response.

  • Experts stress the need for robust safety and legal frameworks in drone innovation.

The Global Artificial Intelligence Summit & Awards (GAISA) hosted a compelling session on “AI in Drones & Space”, spotlighting how artificial intelligence is propelling the evolution of unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs) across critical sectors such as defense, logistics, agriculture, and disaster management.

The session opened with a powerful keynote address by Kartik Bansal, CEO & Head of Engineering at CAW Studios, titled “AI-Powered Drones: Transforming Surveillance, Logistics, and Disaster Management”. He illustrated how AI is empowering drones to make real-time decisions, boosting efficiency, and responding faster in dynamic environments such as natural calamities and military operations.

The panel featured renowned experts including Dr. Shivangi S. Somvanshi (Center Head – CAG, CRDF), Dr. Joyesh Bagchi (Additional Director General, Geological Survey of India), Prof. Dr. Seema Mehra Parihar (Fellow, Delhi School of Public Health, University of Delhi), and Bharti Goyal Maan (Vice President – Volkswagen). Discussions highlighted the integration of AI in drones for precision agriculture, aerial surveys, last-mile delivery, urban mobility, and environmental monitoring.

A recurring theme throughout the session was the balancing act between innovation and responsibility. Speakers underscored the urgency of establishing privacy protocols, safety standards, and comprehensive legal frameworks to support the global adoption of AI-powered drones.

The session concluded with a Roundtable Meeting that included representatives from DGCA, MeitY, MSME, and leading industry CXOs, aiming to develop strategic policies and partnerships that foster innovation while ensuring ethical and secure deployment of drone technologies.
