Turnip, a mobile-focused gaming community platform, has raised $12.5 million (Rs 92 crore) in a new Series A funding round to expand its presence across geographies, hire talent, and develop new products.
Greenoaks and Elevation Capital, both based in the United States, led the new round. Elevation Capital is the startup’s returning investor. Elevation Capital previously participated in a $1.6 million seed round in the Bengaluru-based mobile gaming platform.
Pooja Dubey and Aditya Sharma, both IIT-Guwahati alumni, founded the company in April 2020 with the goal of reimagining the future of gaming interaction by assisting creators in building communities that transform game streaming into a highly interactive, social, and engaging activity.
Turnip enables game developers to form clubs in which they can stream or record their gameplay for audiences, talk on audio/video, text each other, run e-sports tournaments, and host masterclasses.
Live streamers, montage creators, esports organisations, college clubs, and groups of friends are among the creators supported by the platform. It also allows its users to stream and monetize their interactive experiences on existing platforms such as YouTube, Facebook, and Twitch.
