We have all heard several times that in the past that Apple’s upcoming iPhone 12 series will include handsets with 120Hz refresh rate. But there have been some reports saying otherwise as well. Back when iOS 14 Beta 1 came out, we saw the option of ‘Limit Frame Rate’ which indicated that user may be able to choose between 60Hz or more in future.
Now, after several reports claiming to iPhone 12 series to miss out on this feature, ‘Limit Frame Rate’ has once again showed up in iOS 14 Beta 5. A screenshot of this feature is posted on Twitter, once again hinting that iPhone 12 handsets may indeed get 120Hz refresh rate screen.
There have also been reports suggesting that while the iPhone 12 and 12 Max will stick with 60Hz display, the premium iPhone 12 Pro and 12 Pro Max versions will include 120Hz screen. Also, industry insider Ross Young has said that if this feature will allows users to choose between 60Hz and something higher (120Hz), it will mean that those iPhones won’t have LTPO panel and adaptive refresh.
Some other leaks and rumours have suggested the iPhone 12 models to feature a notch. However, the notch can be more compact then this time with same features, leaving more screen space. The company’s 2020 lineup is said to include a 5.4-inch model (iPhone 12), two 6.1-inch models (iPhone 12 Max and iPhone 12 Pro) and a 6.7-inch model (iPhone 12 Pro Max). All the four iPhone models are tipped to be powered by the company A14 Bionic chipset and come with OLED displays.
