The GAISA wraps Up in New Delhi, Reaffirming India’s journey towards Atmanirbhar Bharat

New Delhi – 09/10/2022: The 3rd ever AICRA’s Global Artificial Intelligence Summit & Awards concluded on the 08th of October, affirming India’s recognition and initiatives in the rising importance of artificial intelligence (AI) among all industries. The two-day global event gathered prominent leaders and experts in AI to discuss fast and secure rollout of AI in major industries such as Defense, Agriculture, Healthcare, Aerospace, Tech Startup, Smart Realty, and STEM Education focusing on the core theme of the event ” Indigenization of Artificial Intelligence. Hosted by the All India Council for Robotics & Automation, the summit attracted huge list of participants and 50+ speakers from the government & private sectors.

 

Hon’ble Union Minister of Commerce & Industry, Consumer Affairs, Food, Public Distribution, and Textile, Govt of India Shri. Piyush Goyal Ji, in the presence of other top dignitaries, inaugurated the GAISA event on 7th of October at Vigyan Bhawan, New Delhi. The inaugural session was decorated with presence of Shri Rajesh Kumar Pathak, IP & TAFS  (Secretary, TDB, DST, Govt. of India), Air Mshl Sandesh Prabhakar Wagle( VM, DCIDS (DOT), Lt Gen (Dr) Rajesh Pant (PVSM, AVSM, VSM (Retd.), Chief – National Cyber Coordination Centre), Maj Gen BK Sharma (AVSM, SM AND BAR (Retd.), Director, USI) & Shri Rajkumar Sharma (President of AICRA).

 

Hon’ble Minister of Road Transport and Highways, Government of India Shri Nitin Gadkari Ji connected with delegates virtually on the second day as part of the event. The inspiring words from the minister encouraged audience to explore and reap holistic benefits from AICRA’s GAISA.

 

While the summit showcased the potential of AI, it also prompts more immediate action. All India Council for Robotics & Automation formed Technology Governance Steering Committee (TGSC) in 7 sectors including Agriculture, Healthcare, Defense, Tech Startup, STEM Education, Aerospace & Smart realty outlining their long-term vision for harnessing legitimate AI and help in the process of making India Atmanirbhar.

 

As part of the announcement, GAISA witnessed round table discussions on AICRA’s Technology Governance Steering Committee (TGSC) on 4 major sectors including Defense, Healthcare, Tech startups & Agriculture. Lt Gen PJS Pannu (PVSM, AVSM, VSM (Retd.) Former Deputy Chief of Integrated Defense Staff) has been elected as the Chairperson of TGSC- Defence and Prof Sanjiv Manhas (Professor, Dept. of Electronics & Communication Engg. IIT Roorkee) as the chairperson of TGSC- Tech Startup. Prof.OP Kharbanda & Mr. Chandra Pillai as the chairperson of Healthcare & Agriculture respectively.

 

The summit also included a gala award ceremony to celebrate & recognize best AI innovations/projects/products brought by corporates/startups/individuals around the year. Awards were distributed across 30 categories and selection panel consisted of some of the stellar names in India’s AI ecosystems. Hon’ble Union Shri Piyush Goyal Ji & Air Marshal Sandesh Prabhakar Wagle did the honor of giving GAISA Awards to winners.
