Twitter gave blue tik to 6 fake accounts

Twitters verification process is said to be one of the most tough & tedious as it involves many levels of verifications & checklists. But as per the reports coming, twitter team accidently gave it’s blue badge to at least 6 fake accounts while the prime responsibility of verification is guarantying the person operating the account is genuine. Those 6 accounts are said to be a part of spam Botnet and the profiles were also using fake profile photos probably created by a software.

Twitter user Conspirador Norteno, a data scientist first noticed the fake profiles. He found that those accounts had zero number of tweets and had common followers, all of which were created between June 19 & 20.

twitter accepted the mistake in a statement says, “We mistakenly approved the verification applications of a small number of inauthentic (fake) accounts, We have now permanently suspended the accounts in question, and removed their verified badge, under our platform manipulation and spam policy.”

Now the world wants to know about the conspirator behind this even though twitter has not revealed that information. As Facebook’s former chief security officer, Alex stamos says, “You might have a malicious or bribed insider. Something similar happened at IG (paid off by spammers, in that case),”

Twitter always tried to maintain a fool proof verification procedure. Even after a major revamp in December last year, the twitter blue badge remains problematic.
