Facebook announced last week that it is changing its name to Meta. Meta is more of a corporate rebranding for the Mark Zuckerberg-led company to symbolize the new metaverse ambitions, and it will serve as the parent company for all of the company’s apps. WhatsApp’s footer has been updated to reflect that it is now a Meta-owned app. It is now “WhatsApp from Meta” rather as “WhatsApp from Facebook.”
According to WABetaInfo, the new version of WhatsApp beta matches the most recent updates to Facebook. WhatsApp beta version 2.21.220.14 makes no reference of Facebook. It is now Meta, but nothing will change for users. As a result, as a WhatsApp user, you don’t have to be concerned about the new “WhatsApp from Meta” footer in your app’s Settings page.
“As part of this, it’s time for us to adopt a new company brand to encompass everything that we do. To reflect who we are and what we hope to build. I’m proud to announce our company is now Meta,” said Mark Zuckerberg, who is the CEO of Meta now.
The update comes nearly a year after WhatsApp started putting Facebook’s name in the app to remind users that the app is owned by Facebook.
