Apple has long been expected to release a mixed-reality device, with various sources indicating that the company is currently working on it. According to recent information, the tech behemoth will release its first-ever mixed-reality headset as early as next year, as the project is already nearing completion.
Bloomberg’s Mark Gurman revealed the information in the most recent Power On newsletter. In his assessment, the well-known Apple expert reveals that Apple would release a “mixed reality variety” headgear. This suggests that the gadget will be capable of combining Augmented Reality (AR) and Virtual Reality (VR).
According to Gurman, Apple is aiming for a headset that is also big on gaming. He claims that Apple’s mixed reality headset will provide an experience “able to handle games in high-quality virtual reality.” As pointed out by 9to5Mac, Gurman explains that even though gaming can be done in both AR and VR, the latter is preferred for “seriously high-performance games with top-tier graphics.”
Gurman’s speculations about Apple’s mixed-reality headset are intriguing. The device has been mentioned before. According to an earlier source, Apple’s mixed reality headsets may only operate when linked to an iPhone or other Apple product. Though its propensity for gaming is something that no one could have imagined before. After all, even the most powerful Apple devices currently lack a competitive advantage in gaming. In the future years, it is probable that Apple may move in this direction with both new and current products and services.
