Whatsapp spotted working on a slew of new features

WhatsApp has been developing a number of new features to improve the user experience. WhatsApp’s message reactions feature was recently spotted on WhatsApp Desktop beta, and the messaging app was recently spotted working on a new search message shortcut. WhatsApp users will soon be able to respond to messages with emojis. In a message, users will be able to choose from six different emoji options. The feature was discovered in the messaging app’s beta version.

The messaging app was spotted testing the message reactions feature on the WhatsApp desktop app after testing the feature on WhatsApp for iOS and WhatsApp for Android beta. According to Wabetainfo’s screenshots, the message reactions option will appear below a message and will include six emojis. “The reaction button is not always visible: a new reaction button appears when the cursor is near a chat or group message. You can respond to the message by pressing the reaction button, according to the Wabetainfo report.

The feature, like most WhatsApp features, is still in development, but given that it has been tested on all three platforms, it may be released soon.

A new search message shortcut is another feature that WhatsApp has been spotted working on. The search shortcut is reportedly being rolled out to a few Android beta testers. The redesigned contact info page in the messaging app now has a search shortcut. In group information, the same shortcut will be available. According to the Wabetanifo report, the search shortcut does not appear to work very well. “Even if the feature has been properly rolled out to your WhatsApp account, it may not appear in some circumstances.” Because this is a beta version, things like this may occur, but the issue will almost certainly be resolved in future beta updates. This feature is currently available to a limited number of beta testers, so make sure you update to the 2.22.6.3 beta.
