Whatsapp yet again receives a new update

WhatsApp is rolling out a new security update that better syncs the WhatsApp chat between a user’s mobile application and other linked devices like a laptop.

WhatsApp has introduced three options for the disappearing messages feature; 24 hours, 7 days, or 90 days.

Users were reportedly experiencing chat synchronisation issues when using whatsapp on multiple devices. According to reports, the bug causes incorrectly synced chats between the various linked devices.

WhatsApp, the world’s most popular messaging app, is now rolling out a security fix for the issue, which resolves the sync issue. It is reportedly being rolled out to WhatsApp beta users and will be implemented automatically.

According to WABetaInfo, WhatsApp is releasing a new security update that improves the sync of a user’s WhatsApp chat between their mobile app and other linked devices, such as a laptop running WhatsApp Web or WhatsApp Desktop. The problem was that WhatsApp users’ chats and media appeared differently on linked devices.

According to reports, the fix is currently being rolled out to WhatsApp beta users on iOS and Android.
WhatsApp may automatically log out users who are experiencing this issue from their linked devices due to the security update.

Users who are automatically logged out will see a message pop up that reads, “Your devices were logged out due to an unexpected issue. Please re-link your devices”. This is understood to be a precautionary measure for the linked devices. Users can relink the devices by going to Settings > Linked devices and scanning the given QR code.

Earlier this week, the messaging platform owned by Mark Zuckerberg announced three new time settings for its disappearing messages feature. The disappearing messages feature, which was introduced earlier this year, only allowed for the automatic deletion of a message or media after 7 days.
