Amazon has launched an all-women partner delivery station in Andhra Pradesh.
The Andhra Pradesh station is the fifth station that has been opened in India.
Amazon has opened an all-women partner delivery station in Andhra Pradesh in an approach to boost job opportunities for women. Amazon presently has four all-female delivery stations in cities such as Tamil Nadu, Gujarat, and Kerala. The station in Andhra Pradesh is the seventh to open in India. The delivery station has been set up for female Amazon customers to deliver products.
Talking about partner delivery stations in India, Director, Last Mile Operations, Amazon India, said, “I’m proud to announce the launch of the fifth all-women delivery station in the country and the first in the state of Andhra Pradesh. This continued expansion is a testament to providing women with growth opportunities that enable them to expand their horizons. Our Delivery Service Partners across the country play an important role in strengthening Amazon India’s operations network, and in delivering smiles to our customers. We stay committed to providing women with safe and fulfilling opportunities, and remain steadfast in our resolve to financially uplift them.”
Apart from Amazon, Zomato has now included female delivery partners in other Indian cities. According to Amazon, the DSP initiative is a last-mile delivery approach in which Amazon India has worked with Small and Midsize Enterprises (SMBs) to deliver packages to Amazon customers. According to the company, for many delivery partners, this is their first entrepreneurial venture. They leverage their local expertise as well as Amazon’s technologies to fulfil consumer delivery promises. Currently, Amazon India has close to 1650 Delivery Service Partner Stations spread across more than 750 cities, employing tens of thousands of delivery associates.
Amazon is also planning to open a station in Chennai. The station will be managed by members of under-represented sections of society, such as women, military veterans, trans individuals, and people with disabilities, among others.
