Edtech startup Skill-Lync builds EV to help students gain insight into auto industry

Skill-Lync, an engineering edtech startup, officially confirmed that it has developed an in-house electric vehicle to help its students learn about the automotive industry’s future. The vehicle was developed by a team of six Skill-Lync in-house experts in partnership with professionals from the country’s leading OEMs.

The EV, which was built over nine months at a cost of around Rs 5 lakh, will provide students with real knowledge of what goes into making an electric vehicle. The EV has a top speed of 45 kmph and a range of 40 kilometres. It has a five-person carrying capacity and can accelerate from zero to top speed in six seconds.

“The automotive industry is going through a significant change, driven by sustainability and an increasing base of conscious consumers,” SuryaNarayanan PaneerSelvam, cofounder of Skill-Lync, said in a statement. “In addition to our coursework, we are also offering a first-hand experience of building an EV from scratch, thus providing a holistic view of the future of the automotive industry.”

The startup plans to release a series of masterclass videos that will visually illustrate the EV building process, as well as continuing to develop more such EV prototypes.”Electric vehicles are an important part of the global sustainable journey,” said Sarangarajan V Iyengar, cofounder of Skill-Lync. “There is a pronounced need for a new crop of automotive engineers who can design, develop, and test these vehicles that are built on newage, sophisticated systems.”
