The much-anticipated entry-level smartphone from Jio, the jioPhone Next, is now available for pre-order in India and will be available in stores on the occassion of diwali. Jio has already shared details about the smartphone, and here is what you can expect from the next smartphone that is likely to revolutionise the affordable pricing category. For those who are unaware, Reliance Industries chairman Mukesh Ambani initially unveiled JioPhone Next during the company’s earnings conference in June. The phone was supposed to be released in September at the time. After repeated delays, the gadget has finally been released in the country.
JioPhone Next is now available in India for Rs 6,499 (approximately). The company has provided a variety of financing options for the smartphone, allowing users to acquire the handset for an upfront payment of only Rs 1,999 and pay the remainder in EMIs. The business bills JioPhone Next as the “most cheap smartphone anywhere in the world.”
The JioPhone Next will include a 5.45-inch multi-touch display with a resolution of HD+ (1440×720 pixels) and Corning Gorilla Glass 3 with anti-fingerprint coating. The phone will be powered by a quad-core Qualcomm Snapdragon QM-215 processor with a 1.3GHz refresh rate.
Pragati OS, an improved version of Android developed jointly by Google and Jio for the JioPhone Next, will be used on the phone. The JioPhone Next will include 2GB of RAM and 32GB of internal storage, which can be expanded up to 512GB through an external microSD card. The phone will be powered by a 3500mAH battery that can be charged via a micro USB connector.
