Lt. General Vinod G. Khandare Addresses GAISA 4.0, Advocates Comprehensive Approach to AI and Robotics Integration

Charting an uncharted trajectory at the Global Artificial Intelligence Summit & Awards (GAISA) 4.0, Lt. General Vinod G. Khandare, Principal Adviser to the Ministry of Defence, Government of India delivered a compelling address, shedding light on the transformative potential of artificial intelligence (AI) and robotics in bolstering national security and defense capabilities.

Expressing gratitude to the Chief of Naval Staff and the Chairman, DRDO, Lt. General Khandare delved into key issues discussed during the event, emphasizing the need for a holistic approach in harnessing the power of AI and robotics. His speech transcended military applications, advocating a comprehensive strategy that extends to non-military domains, urging a collaborative “whole-of-nation” perspective.

Emphasizing the importance of robotics, He added: “Unless we move fast onto (robotics and automation), whether it is related to space imagery, satellite imagery, whether it is related to ammunition storage, whether it is related to understanding the life of your equipment, robotics is the answer.”

Lt. General Khandare encapsulated the essence of the Chief of Naval Staff’s reference to “people policy and pole vaulting,” stressing the urgency of adopting technology not as a replacement for human resources but as a catalyst for optimizing manpower and enhancing performance.

During his insightful address, Lt. General Khandare highlighted the multifaceted applications of AI and robotics in diverse domains, including space, maritime, ground operations, and logistics. He urged attendees to proactively address challenges and collaborate across ministries, fostering a culture of cross-ministerial cooperation.
