Government working on AI regulation framework, will be released by July 2024, says IT Minister Rajeev Chandrasekhar

The Indian Government is actively developing an AI regulation framework slated for release by mid-2024, aimed at leveraging artificial intelligence (AI) to propel economic growth while addressing potential risks and harms, stated IT Minister Rajeev Chandrasekhar.

Chandrasekhar underscored the government’s commitment to harnessing AI for achieving key economic objectives, with plans to exploit its potential across various sectors including healthcare, agriculture, and farmer productivity.

The Minister of State for Electronics and Information Technology further emphasized the significance of the forthcoming AI regulation frameworks, highlighting their pivotal role in steering India’s AI strategy towards sustainable growth and innovation.

With the release of the AI regulation framework by June or July this year, the government aims to provide a comprehensive roadmap for the ethical and responsible deployment of AI technologies across various sectors.
