Verizon teamed up with Google following At&T

Verizon announced its change of default messaging app to google messages on android phones sold by the company following AT&T. Verizon was the only company not partnered with the Silicon Valley giants by using google messages. Previously, Verizon users had the freedom to download, and set google messages as their default app.

Verizon explains “Messages by Google will be preloaded, starting next year, on all Verizon Android devices, enabling consumers to enjoy rick messaging features, such as sending and receiving higher-quality photos and videos, chatting over Wi-Fi or data, knowing when your message is read, enjoying more dynamic and engaging group chats, and securely chatting with other Messages users in available one-on-one conversations with end-to-end encryption.”

The report says Verizon will be integrating RCS compatibility with Verizon message+ app later this year.
